{2 Months}

Wow! I cannot believe two months has already come and gone! The poor girl got shots today and doesn't want me to put her down {she is currently sleeping next to me and she usually wants to be in her crib during nap time}.The last month has been SO much easier than the first one. Looking back, I don't know how I even survived the first 3 weeks! Kate was very fussy her first month of life. Pretty much if she wasn't eating or sleeping, she was crying. Month two, she only really cries if she's hungry, tired, or wants to be put down. Dan and I just love her to pieces. The other night, we put her to bed, and then kept watching a video of her when she was smiling for like 20 minutes. We miss her when she's sleeping!

Here's an overview of the month:
Length-22 1/2 inches (48%)
Weight- 9.1lbs (4%) tiny little peanut

Sleeps 7-9 hours at night
Sleeps in her OWN room in her CRIB!
Wearing newborn clothes still
Moved up to Size 1 diapers
Has a love/hate relationship with being swaddled--she hates the moment
I swaddle her, but sleeps SO good when she is swaddled nice and tight.
Started smiling & she giggled today! (5/7/15)
Still loving bath time
Her Binky {just started taking one this month}
Laying on the floor-- she loves to kick and move around
Her bouncy chair
Still loves to watch her mobile while laying in her crib
Cuddling with her dad before he goes to work in the morning
EATING--don't let her get hungry!
Hates getting dressed
Hates getting out of the bath
Still doesn't enjoy her car seat, but is getting slightly better in the car
Loves being held by her mommy
Loves listening to soft lullaby music

Here are a few pictures from the month--I have hundred more:)

{Kate Marie}

It has been over a month since we have welcomed Kate Marie into our family. I don't think I can explain the love that Dan and I have for this little girl. We can just stare at her for hours and not get bored. We think she is perfect in every single way. Becoming parents has been an adjustment for both of us. We are getting use to our new normal. My body is adjusting to my new sleeping schedule and I get a kick when Dan wakes up telling me "my body is just so tired!" Kate and I have fallen into a great schedule throughout the day {thank you Babywise} and she is currently sleeping 5 hours straight at night {yay!}.

I decided to blog her birth story--for myself to remember {because people tell you that you forget and I'm not so sure I want to forget:)} and because I loved reading birth stories when I was pregnant.
It is true what people say, everybody experiences labor and delivery very differently.

This is going to be long--so prepare.

Starting at 35 weeks, I had weekly doctor appointments every Monday. On February 23, I had an appointment and I had mentioned to my doctor that I had been extremely itchy. I didn't have a rash, but I had scratches on my arms and legs from itching so much in my sleep. My doctor decided to do a blood test to test my liver function. She had said that I was probably fine, but we would check it just to be safe. Come the following week, March 2nd, we had our weekly appointment at 4:15. My doctor had come in and asked how I was doing. I told her "I'm over being pregnant" and she responded with "Well, you're having your baby Thursday, so its good that your over being pregnant!" Dan and I both looked at each other like WHAT?!! Her telling me that was just not what I expected. I was planning on begging her to induce me before Spring Break ended {which was the following week} because I just couldn't imagine going to work being 39-40 weeks pregnant! My blood test came back positive for Cholestasis--which has to do with the flow of bile in my blood. It just causes itchiness for me, but could be fatal for the baby. My doctor explained that when a mother has this condition, they induce at 37 weeks. She sent us over to the hospital to get our little miss checked out--if everything seemed fine--then I was to be at the hospital Wednesday March 4th at 11pm--if something was "off" then she would admit me and induce me that night! Luckily, everything was fine, and we were able to go home and prepare to meet our baby a few days later!

We both went about our normal schedules on Tuesday. Wednesday, Dan and I slept in and packed our bags for the hospital. We spent a few hours with Dan's brother and our sister-in-law and then went to eat at Smash Burger before checking into the hospital. Things got pretty interesting after checking in...

11pm-7am--> Answering a lot of questions for paperwork, signing paperwork, getting an IV. Right around 12am, they started me on a medicine to soften my cervix. They also gave me Ambien. In my mind, I was prepared to get a great nights sleep--I mean Ambien is suppose to knock you out, right?! Wrong. I had hallucinations all night long--I remember telling Dan that I could see people flag twirling and little toy soldiers march in straight lines. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw insane things. Then, I started getting pretty strong contractions or what felt like horrible horrible cramps. I got 2 more doses of the same medicine throughout the night--only to find out little Miss Kate did not enjoy the medication. By 7am, my new nurse asked if I was ready for the epidural and you better believe I jumped at the opportunity. I just remember sitting on the hospital bed telling Dan "I've never been in so much pain"--thank goodness for epidurals. I mean--it was instant relief. I was able to relax and get some sleep throughout the day.

7am-4pm--> My doctor came in around 8 or 9 and broke my water to get things moving along. Kate did not enjoy that, so they ended up putting more fluids back inside of me. The medication they gave me to soften my cervix made my uterus contract, but it was in a constant contraction, never letting up--which had Kate in distress. To be honest, I don't remember much of the day, but we had some scary moments. 3-4 times throughout the day, Kate's heart rate went from 150s down to the 60s. Nurses would rush into my room and flip me in different directions to get her heart rate back up. My doctor came in multiple times, but assured me that she was fine. I had an amazing nurse--she ended up staying in our room most the day watching Kate's heart rate, putting warm blankets around me, and making sure I was comfortable. Dan was feeding me ice chips and Tums whenever I asked. I was pretty out of it--not getting a lot of sleep the night before and having the epidural had me pretty loopy.

4-5:30ish--> My doctor came in around 4 and I was 6cm dilated. She told me that I would probably deliver around 7pm. She went back to the office to see some patients. By 5, I told the nurse that I needed to push and sure enough in 30 minutes I went from a 6cm to 10cm. My nurse had me do a practice push and then our room got busy. Everyone started coming in and getting things set up. My doctor came back and we started pushing around 5:05ish--this was my favorite part because I felt no pain, just pressure and could feel her body coming down the birth canal {is that too much information?! Probably, but it was amazing to me}. My doctor had me feel her head as it came out and all I could think was "that is a tennis ball, its so small!"--I only pushed maybe 6 times and for 15 minutes {I lucked out} and Kate was born at 5:20pm. Weighing 5.5lbs and 18in. long. Turns out Kate's umbilical was wrapped around her neck twice {I hate that dang cord} and all I heard was "call the NICU", but I remember thinking "ahhh...I'm not pregnant anymore!"

The NICU came down, but the nurses ended up telling them they she was fine and they didn't need them. They rubbed her for awhile, gave her some oxygen, and then we were able to hold her. She ended up having low blood sugars and had to go to the nursery for a little while--which was not good for my hormones, but we made it through. My blood pressure ended up sky rocketing and they treated me for preclampsia, which was awful, also not good for my hormones, and I'm still trying to forget about it. I was very ready to go home by Saturday and made that pretty clear to the nurses. I think we were the first ones discharged. :)

The first month was a whirlwind. There have been awesome days and there have been really hard days. I've cried more than I care to admit {the day my mom left was a rough one}, Kate has cried more than I've been able to handle:), and I've never been so exhausted in my entire life. I would change any of it and Dan and I are both loving our new family of 3 and we fall more in love with Kate everyday.

31 Weeks Plus {Nursery Photos}

Well, we have made it to 31 weeks {almost 32!}!
Both Dan and I are getting more&more
excited to meet our baby girl!

How far along are you? 31 Weeks and 3 Day!
How are you feeling? I'm feeling good. I have the normal pains that I think most pregnant girls have and I get up one too many times at night. One complaint is that I've started to feel sick after I eat sometimes, so I'm back taking nausea medicine every once in a while. I still love seeing the chiropractor. She helps so much with my aches and pains! We also have doctors appointments every 2 weeks now--baby girl will be here before we know it!

Total Weight Gain? 8 Pounds- I feel pretty good about this number.
How big is baby? 16.25 inches long and 3.3 pounds {The size of four navel oranges}
Maternity Clothes? um, this shouldn't even be a question at this point. Let's just say, I'm getting very excited about wearing normal clothes again. Mark my words: after my 6 week PP appointment---> I will be at the gym everyday

Stretch Marks? Just one small one on my hip, lets hope it is the only one.
Sleep? Can't complain. I've been sleeping really good. I get up to use the bathroom usually 3 times, but I'm able to fall right back asleep.
Best Moment of the Week?
We are almost finished with baby girls nursery! We need drapes and I'm thinking maybe a rug--we also of course need our baby to make it complete:)
Food Cravings? Chips ahoy cookies--very random, but I love them.
Food Aversions? Fried foods. They just make me sick.
Belly button in or out? In, but not for long.
What I miss? My closet-- 100% cannot wait to wear my normal clothes!
What I'm looking forward to?
Baby girl getting here! I'm very ready to NOT be pregnant anymore!

Here are a few pictures of our Nursery--Dan put in a lot of time to making this room perfect. He's walked through Homegoods one too many times with me looking for additions to buy. He has built and hung everything. I'm so happy with everything in it--I actually love to just sit in here. It is easily my favorite room. Enjoy!

{Baby Update--28 Weeks-- plus Christmas}

Christmas break has truly been a delightful break from working for both Dan and I.
We have been able to relax and get some things done around the house. We've also been able to spend a lot of time with family. Dan's brother's family just moved closer to us and we've been able to see them and our nephew and niece a lot throughout this holiday season!
Here are a few pictures of what we have been up to-->

1. Dan and I decided to buy each other a Blendtec for Christmas--best gift ever. I have been able to make juice e.v.e.r.y morning! I love it!
2. My break started off with having a horrible cold and having to take that nasty glucose test. I struggled drinking that drink in 3 MINUTES and then keeping it down for an entire hour. I haven't heard from the doctor and it was 2 weeks ago---so I'm assuming I passed?

3. Just a Christmas selfie with Dan!
4. Making Sugar Cookies for Santa with Josh! I actually found an amazing sugar cookie recipe. I will have to put it on my blog one day--the cookies came out perfect. We even made homemade icing. It was quite the work, but look at Josh's smile. Totally worth it.

5. Just a bump picture. This was exactly 28 weeks. Crazy to think that I will have a baby in 12 weeks OR less! Ah!

How far along are you? 28 weeks and 3 days
How are you feeling? I'm feeling pretty good. I've lost a lot of my energy that I had---I guess Welcome to the 3rd Trimester. My hips hurt if I'm up and walking a lot, which should make going back to work for the next two months very interesting...
She also moves all the time. I love being able to feel and even see her move. Its a little odd sometimes watching my stomach move around, but I love to just sit and watch her.

Total Weight Gain? About 7 pounds give or take. They weigh you with all your clothes and shoes on, so I mean does that even count?! haha.
How big is baby? A Tropical Coconut:) 2.25 pounds!
Maternity Clothes? um, I don't even know what I would do without Lululemon Wonder Under Leggings  and {this} sweater! I have a hard time getting dressed in the morning, I won't lie. I also would love to find a good pair of jeans, but I have been very unsuccessful.

Stretch Marks? I found one the other day and got real sad. Its small and on my hip. I pretty much used a lot of lotion after that and hope that it is the only one!
Sleep? Sleep is good some days and bad others. I get up a lot to use the restroom, but I am able to fall back asleep quickly after!
Best Moment of the Week?
Ordering her crib! Should be here on Thursday! and I've actually been pretty good when it comes to shopping, but I finally went and bought some clothes. Just little newborn things that she can wear home from the hospital!
Food Cravings? homemade juice and strawberry and banana shakes!
Food Aversions? Hamburgers-gross.
Belly button in or out? In
What I miss? My closet-- 100% cannot wait to wear my normal clothes!
What I'm looking forward to? Getting her crib set up and finishing her room!

{22-23 Weeks}

I have no current pictures. I know...boring...

How far along are you? 22 weeks & 4 Days
How are you feeling? I'm feeling pretty good these days! Last time I blogged, I complained about horrible nerve pain. I went to see a chiropractor and that may have been the best decision that I could of made. She has specialized in chiropractic care with pregnancy and was recommend through my obgyn. I went 3 times and have not felt the nerve pain since. YAY! {I mean, it was bad. I sometimes had to hold on to the wall to support myself}-- I will continuing going once a month until March, then I will see her every other week until I deliver! Hoping by keeping my hips and pelvis in line will also help with labor.

I'm also getting bigger and can feel her kicking! Early morning is when you can actually feel her.
Dan has yet to be able to feel her and I can't wait until he can.

Total Weight Gain? I have no idea? I have a doctor appointment on Tuesday--we will see then! I don't feel like I've gained weight anywhere expect my stomach, which is nice!
How big is baby? Spaghetti Squash--currently 1 whole pound!
Maternity Clothes? Yes! I can no longer wear my normal pants. Rubber bands holding them up no longer work and maternity clothes are more comfortable. I actually have been living in Lululemon Wonder Under Leggings {great christmas present MOM}, boots, and sweaters! Thank you Texas for giving us some cold weather! Target also has great maternity tanks. I'm thankful that I'm pregnant during the winter--I have no idea how I would survive the summer being hot and pregnant!

Stretch Marks? Nope!
Sleep? Well, sleep is good some days and bad others. I finally caved and got a pregnancy pillow, called the Snoogle. It is amazing. It gives me the back support that I needed. Dan is currently using it on the couch:)
Best Moment of the Week?
Being able to to feel baby girl kicking
Food Cravings? Carrots and Ranch Dressing
Food Aversions? Hamburgers-gross.
Belly button in or out? In
What I miss? I'm not sure
What I'm looking forward to? Having some time off work for the Holidays and starting to set things up for baby!

{18 Weeks}

18 Weeks and counting....

How far along are you? 18 weeks 4 days
How are you feeling? Overall, kinda crappy. I feel like I've had 3 weeks where I have felt good and its been all down hill since then. I hate to complain because I love that I'm having a baby, but my body has just not adjusted well. I have horrible nerve pain down my leg. I'm going to see a chiropractor tomorrow, which will hopefully help. I also still throw up every now and then. Like at church this morning.
That is always a.w.e.s.o.m.e.

Total Weight Gain? about 3 1/2 pounds
How big is baby? A Sweet Potato, 6.7oz.
Maternity Clothes? Yes. I can still wear my normal jeans with a hairband, but it really isn't comfortable. I actually hate getting dressed everyday. Friday night, I packed up all my clothes that just don't fit and organized the entire closet. It was well past 1am when I went to bed. Nesting is in full force. I even tried to go to Old Navy Saturday to get a few things, but everything in the store is so frumpy. I rather wear t-shirts and sweat pants, why can't those be acceptable for work? Luckily, every Wednesday is Warm Up Wednesday at school and this year, my sweatpants and I are taking full advantage of it

Stretch Marks? Nope!
Sleep? This is one thing I can't complain about. I sleep pretty well every night. I just hope it stays like this.
Best Moment of the Week?
My Friday afternoon nap was pretty great. Hearing our baby girl's heartbeat on Thursday was also very nice. Also making a chiropractor appointment. :)
Food Cravings? I could go for a slushy right now
Food Aversions? It just depends on the day
Belly button in or out? In
What I miss? feeling normal
What I'm looking forward to? Cooler Weather, going to one of my good friends baby shower, and getting our anatomy scan this week!

{18 Week Baby Bump}
ps. I need a headboard
