Triangles.

My mother has this natural knack for sewing
I've never had the "want" to sew, really, BUT...
this summer I had the itch to redo all the pillows in our bedroom.
So I googled and googled and googled. Pretty soon, I had mastered the "invisible zipper" and was making pillows on the daily. I even made pillow cases! It was my summer hobby

A few weeks went by and off I went to New Jersey to visit my family. My mom and I went to {Cloud 9 Fabrics} and they brought us through the whole design process for fabrics. I then decided...I'm going to make a quilt. Thinking...EASY EASY EASY.

...Easy. Not so much.
Insert triangles.
Insert headache.

As of today,
I have finished my first quilt top
My goal is to have the entire quilt done by October 1st.
Mainly because I need my own sewing machine
{using my mother-in-laws currently}
convincing my husband that this isn't a "temporary obsession" has been quite the process.

Here she is...

and even though it is not perfect. I am so happy with it.

My next quilt will be squares.
I'm done with triangles for a while.

  4. I LOVE your quilt. You are so talented, Ally!

Have you heard of the 24 or 48 hour (I forget which one it is exactly) quilt? One of my friends wants to do it... and apparently, like the name, it only takes 24 or 48 hours!
